About us
Who we are
The Hungarian LGBT Alliance is an umbrella organization bringing together lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organizations in Hungary. The Alliance was registered in 2011, and currently has seven member organizations (Atlasz LGBT Sports Association, Háttér Society, Labrisz Lesbian Association, Patent Association, Rainbow Families Foundation, Rainbow Mission Foundation (Budapest Pride) and Szimpozion LGBT Youth Association)
Our aims
The aim of the Alliance is to advance the legal and social equality of LGBT people, to represent their interests and to support groups and organizations working for them. We also aim to protect human rights, fight discrmination and prejudices, foster the social inclusion and visibility of LGBT people, and to strengthen their identity and awareness.
Our values
The core values of the Alliance are respect for human rights, diversity, opennes, democracy and professionalim. To achieve this we make decisions in a democratic way by majority vote following a thorough debate. We strive to involve the broader LGBT community in our decision making processes, and to operate transparently both in terms of decision making and in managing our finances.
Our activities
The most important activity of the Alliance is to advocate for the adoption of laws and policies taking into account the needs and concerns of LGBT people. Besides this core activity we inform the public on LGBT issues, prepare publications, participate in research projects, and conduct awareness raising campaigns. We pursue our activities in cooperation with our member organizations and other partners.
How you can help us
Most activities of the Alliance are carried out by unpaid activists, by volunteering with us you can help us achieve our goals. You can offer financial contributions to our bank account or via PayPal. You can also help us simply by following our work, and sharing it with your friends and colleagues.
